The first Omega in space reimagined
The Speedmaster became the first Omega in space during Astronaut Walter Schirra’s groundbreaking Sigma 7 mission in 1962. This pivotal 9-hour, 13-minute, and 11-second flight saw Schirra orbit Earth six times, establishing the Speedmaster as an essential piece of space kit.
NASA’s subsequent certification for all manned missions cemented Omega’s place in aerospace history.
More than 60 years after Schirra’s historic mission, Omega honours this legacy with a special re-edition of the Speedmaster. This new watch is based on the original CK-2998 model.

Its new sapphire crystal replicates the classic domed shape of Hesalite, seen on the first 1962 Speedmaster. Indexes, hour and minute hands are filled with Vintage Super-LumiNova, replicating the original's luminescence.
The watch is presented on a new polished and brushed steel bracelet with tapered links, or choose a brown leather strap that echoes the original.

The caseback is engraved with "The first Omega in Space" and the mission date "October 3, 1962", encircling a seahorse motif.
Powered by a manual-winding chronograph movement with Co-Axial escapement, this Speedmaster is certified as a Master Chronometer.
The
First Omega in Space is available at Gilson Jewellers in Bruges, Brussels or Knokke.
