The new Tank Must de Cartier
The Tank Must de Cartier, a pioneering watch...
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Louis Cartier created the Tank watch in 1917. A legend was born. The
first prototype was presented as a gift to General Pershing some years before
the watch was introduced into the market in 1919. The lugs blend seamlessly
into the bare edges of the flat vertical brancards, giving the watch its unique
aesthetic. The clean, crisp lines have proved hugely popular with a
free-spirited, elegant clientèle. The now-iconic Tank watch has inspired
countless variations, yet managed to preserve its distinctive identity.

DIFFERENT SIZES
The Tank watch comes in small (29,5 x 22 mm) and large (33,7 x 25,5 mm) model with a high autonomy quartz movement, and in extra large (41 x 31 mm) model with a Manufacture mechanical movement with automatic winding caliber 1847 MC.
Two capsule collections were added:
- The Tank Louis Cartier large size watch with a gold case and a manufacture mechanical movement caliber 1917 MC.

- Three Tank Must large size watches in red, blue and green, with a high autonomy quartz movement, a color lacquered dial and a very minimalistic design.

The extra large model benefits from a dual innovation:

SOLAR POWER APPLIED TO THE TANK WATCH
The Manufacture applied the photovoltaic principle to the Tank watch's dial without altering its aesthetic. This true technical feat relies on the perforation of Roman numerals, whose openings allow light to reach the photovoltaic cells hidden under the dial. It took two years for the development team to integrate this SolarBeat
TM movement, with an average lifespan of 16 years, into the Tank Must, the first watch to benefit from this technology.
A STRAP PRODUCED USING AN INNOVATIVE MATERIAL
The strap is produced without animal materials, using waste from apples, which results in a high level of both quality and comfort. The production procedure represents a step forward in preserving the environment by reducing our carbon footprint, saving water and energy compared to the manufacture of a calfskin strap. Furthermore, Cartier favoured a local, European approach.
The new Tank Must de Cartier is available at Gilson Jewellers in Bruges and Knokke.
